yardart 2025

April is Yardart month in Watertown! There’s art indoors and out all over town. For the 5th year, storefront art projects presents a festival of a show, with work by 10 artists in a wide range of mediums. Cat Bennett’s four small, glowing abstract paintings on wood hang next to Charles Suggs’ smoke on canvas painting called Worry featuring four kids in hoodies anxiously off to the store. Paul Angiolillo’s twig and nut pod sculptures echo Hakim Raquib’s colorful print of street dancers. Michelle Lougees’s vessels made with plastic bottle tops, and a white bottle cap flag on a beaver’s stick, sit near a small acrylic painting of a perfect Mandarin orange by Donna Calleja. Dianne Jenkins’ wacky doll characters fill one storefront window, and extremely detailed paintings of exotic flowers by Mariela Dawe hang nearby. Maggie Stern is back with a new batch of ceramic creatures, and on a pedestal in the window are some phenomenal dancing shoes by designer Mauryn Kkira.
