Assembly brings together Laura Evans, Steve Novick, and Jill Slosburg-Ackerman, three artists whose sculptural work responds to and incorporates found elements.
Whether using wood or metal, paint or plastic, the artists share an affinity for the everyday. Reference to function is a common thread, as is a respect for and response to ordinary objects. A measured combination of disparate parts is essential. As Slosburg-Ackerman has noted elsewhere, and as this show demonstrates, “one thing lets another make sense.”
